Timeline

1886 - The mission Press is started in Eshowe for the Zuluand Anglican Diocese by Bishop Douglas McKenzie. The hand driven press was presented to the Bishop by the Society for the Propagation of Christian Knowledge, England. Numerous Diocesan publications were produced.

1889 - The Zululand Times or Sausage Wrap is published, sponsored by the British forces stationed in the area.

1907 - A weekly newspaper The Zululand Times is published and commercial printing starts.

1910 - First drawings appear in advertisements. An engine is installed to run the press.

1940 - First photographs appear in advertising.

1975 - The newspaper section is sold to The Zululand Observer, then a subsidiary of the The Natal Mercury.

1979 - First four colour litho press is purchased.

1999 - 100 years of the Zululand Times & 113 years of print in Eshowe.

2002 - First five colour press and first to offer a UV varnishing facility in Zululand.

2009 - We celebrate our 110th birthday
